22 Aug 2024 ↑ Under the auspices of the Post Graduate Department of Punjabi and Youth Welfare Department, the Teej festival was celebrated with immense fervor and enthusiasm, guided by the visionary leadership of Principal Dr. Sushma Gupta on 22nd August, 2024. The event, meticulously organized under the supervision of Dr. Kulwinder Kaur Chheena, Head of the Punjabi Department and Dean, Youth Welfare Department, and Dr. Deepak Jyoti, Coordinator, Youth Welfare Department who transformed the college courtyard into a vibrant tapestry of colors and culture.

The occasion was graced by the distinguished presence of renowned Punjabi folk singer and President of the 'Sanskar Bharti' Punjab unit, Madam Sukhi Brar, who served as the chief guest. The college reverberated with excitement as students engaged in traditional activities such as soulful folk singing, spinning on the charkha, cooking on clay stoves, and reveling in the joy of swings, which were the highlights of the day. Special guests, along with other honored dignitaries, were treated to a captivating spectacle of Punjabi culture. They enthusiastically participated in the festivities by performing the energetic Giddha dance, swinging on the swings, and savoring traditional sweet delicacies, Pude and Kheer.

The cultural program commenced in the auditorium with the lighting of the sacred vidya jyoti, followed by a mesmerizing performance by Ms. Kavita (winner Voice of Punjab). Ms. Arshpreet then enthralled the audience with a medley of Punjabi super hits, including "Haye Ni Mera Balam, Hai Bada Jalam," while Shivani and Kumari captivated everyone with their energetic performances.

In her address, Madam Sukhi Brar exhorted the students to remain rooted in Punjab's rich cultural heritage, emphasizing the importance of striking a balance in the modern digital age and cautioning against the negative influences of social media. She urged young girls to refrain from sharing content that sends the wrong message to society. According to the viewpoint of Madam Principal Teej is a vibrant celebration of womanhood, love, and resilience, honoring the divine feminine and embracing the beauty, strength, and spirit of women.

The pièce de résistance of the event was the 'Miss Teej' competition, where Madam Sukhwinder Kaur (from Baba Namdev University College, Kishankot) and Madam Kulwinder Kaur (from SD College, Gurdaspur) served as esteemed judges. Ms. Madhu was crowned as 'Miss Teej', with Ms. Mansi as the first runner-up and Pallavi as the second runner-up.

The event was attended and enjoyed by college staff, students, and female city residents. A galaxy of esteemed personalities, including Principal Ms. Nirmal Pandhi, Parveen Baba ji, Ms. Mamta, Principal Jyoti Bala, Ms. Binni Mahajan, Ms. Paramjeet (MC Dinanagar), Ms. Dimple (MC Dinanagar), Ms. Asha (MC Dinanagar), Ms. Misha Gupta, and Ms. Indu Mahajan, graced the event with their presence. On this auspicious occasion, Madam Principal, Ms. Namita Gupta, eminent committee member along with senior staff members honoured the chief guest with traditional Phulkari and memento. Principal Mrs. Nirmal Pandhi, Parveen Baba ji, and other distinguished guests were felicitated with honors. The talented girls who secured the top three positions were awarded prizes in recognition of their excellence. The judges of the event were specially honoured for their keen judgement. Madam kulwinder Kaur appreciated the efforts of the faculty of Punjabi Department, Madam Hardeep who set up the traditional outlook, Ms. Sonia from Cosmetology Department who decked out the students for the performances and other staff members who made this event a grand success. The entire college staff was also present, adding to the grandeur of the occasion. The event culminated in resounding success, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who attended, with cherished memories to treasure forever.
