NSS and physical education department of Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College Dinanagar Organised one day Online Webinar on “ Yoga for Immunity, Respiratory & Emotional well-Being “ to celebrate International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2021 in collaboration with Isha foundation under the able guidance of principal Dr. Reena Talwar. From Isha Foundation Dr Monica Gupta played active role in organising this webinar and Miss Tayagini , Yoga Expert was the moderator of this event . More than 135 participants including volunteers and staff members of the college participated in this event and did practise of Pranayama & Simha Kriya in supervision and guidance of Shri Sadguru ji . He also gave training of different respiratory exercises to be done to improve oxygen level in the bidy. These exercises were taught by keeping in mind its prime need for fighting against pandemic of Covid -19. More than 50 students participated in this webinar. Mrs. Randeep Dhoot head of Political Science department extended thanks to the speakers and participants and said that women must be educated for a healthy and a happy life. Education is the best antidote to stop violence against her. An educated woman will be aware of her rights and can fight against all kinds of social evils and domestic violence.

The eminent speaker of the event Dr. Jasbir Singh, Asst. Professor, Department of History, Punjab University, Chandigarh presented an insightful depiction on the relevance of Ideals represented in the writings of Guru Nanak Dev ji in the early twentieth century.He said, ‘’The cult of modernism have fostered colonised implications in the context of Punjabi poetry’’. He also stated a meticulous account of innumerable examples of cultural resistance. Dr. Reena Talwar expressed her views on the profound preachings of Guru Nank Dev ji and motivated the students to follow the three foremost principles- ‘Naam Japna, Kirat Karna and Vand Chhakna’. § Dr. Ambedkar studies Centre of Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College organised a webinar on "Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace": Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal on 13th Dec 2021 under the direction of Principal Dr. Reena Talwar. Mrs Navdeep Kaur Gill, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Gurdaspur and Advocate Prabhdeep Singh Sandhu, Member District Legal Services Authority Gurdaspur were the main speakers of this Webinar.Shrimati Navdeep Kaur elaborated legal provisions especially 2013 Act for the protection of women at workplace. Sexual harassment includes such unwelcome sexually determined behavior as physical contact and advances, demand or request for sexual favors, sexually colored remarks, showing pornography and any other unwelcome physical verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature. Advocate Prabhdeep Singh stated that sexual harassment violates the women’s fundamental right of gender equality and life with dignity under article 14 and article 21 respectively. Although there are no specific laws for curbing sexual harassment at the workplace in India but certain provisions are there in other legislation like Indian Penal Code, which provides protection against women’s sexual harassments. He elaborated all provisions in constitution and Indian penal code regarding this issue. Principal Dr. Reena Talwar stated that Indian society is highly cultured society and sexual harassment is a curse for our rich heritage. She also discussed Me Too campaign that highlighted the problem of sexual harassment. Dr. Anjna Malhotra, coordinator of webinar, stated that with education and right to equality in constitution provide women various dimensions to work and to earn livelihood but due to unsafe environment women are facing many physical, social and psychological stress. Many provisions are there in constitution to protect women but due to lack of awareness and hesitation women are still suffering from this problem. Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College Dinanagar always tries to inculcate good values and confidence among women so that they can face the society and move ahead with courage and wisdom. Eminent speakers for this event were Dr. Aparna Maitri Pati, Chief Scientist, Institute of Himalaya Bioresource Technology( CSIR), Dr. Divya Kaushik, Registered Patent Agent, PIC & TISC, Government of India, and Dr. Hardeep Singh, OSD to Vice Chancellor office and Professor, Department of computer science, GNDU Amritsar.The event was hosted by Prof. Neenu Sharma. Principal, Dr. Reena Talwar firmly stated that in India there are several resourceful estates. To retain these, intellectual property rights are needed, as India is already lagging behind owing to its deprivation.Dr. Aparna Maitra Pati, while giving information on the topic of discovery of commercialization said that every product should have importance at the economic level. It must be beneficial universally. Registered Patent Agent Dr. Divya Kaushik gave information about the process of patenting, fee of patent and schemes of the government which are helpful in getting a patent right. There was an advantageous discourse on the shots of Haldi and Sanitizers which became milestones in helping humanity in the dire Corona times. Dr. Hardeep Singh said that every resource, every information must be disclosed after getting patent rights so that there is no detrimental usage. At the end of the event, Prof. Sunita Verma expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the speakers.
