College is a place of
higher learning and developing understanding of students, get authenticated
only if they not only disseminate the existing knowledge, but also create new
knowledge. They promote critical discourse, secular values and humanism that lead
to emancipation of human soul from regimentation of all kinds. Indira
Gandhi Studies Centre of SDAM College, Dinanagar strives to study and
promote these values.
The evaluation of great leaders generally passes through three stages. Firstly,
they are extolled in the years after their demise. The second stage comes when
they are subjected to criticism, fair or unfair. Thereafter follows the stage
of balanced judgment. Indira Gandhi stands at the point of transition from
second to the third stage.

Indira Gandhi can undoubtedly be called one of the greatest leaders that
independent India has produced. She was the first woman prime minister of India
and such a great leader that can unquestionably be called the symbol of
feminism in India. She can be called a very strong leader of the 3rd world who was bent upon political self-determination and
economic expansion for this ignored area of the world. UGC under EPOCH making
thinkers of India Scheme provided opportunity to the college to delve into the
impact of Indira Gandhi on diverse areas of Indian polity and society.
