Red Cross Society

The Youth Red Cross unit of the college became operational from 2005. The unit has a considerable volunteer strength. The volunteers undergo training in First Aid from district Red Cross Society. Our Red cross unit has participated in state level camps organized by National Red Cross, Chandigarh. We are the recipient of state level champions’ trophy. Red Cross volunteers participate in community service programmes, blood donation camps, road safety programmes etc. The Youth Red Cross unit is working under the guidance of Mrs. Randeep Dhoot.

• Red Ribbon club and Red Cross Society, under the aegis of IQAC and EBSB Club celebrated World Red Cross Day on 12th May,2023 under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Reena Talwar. Poster Making and Slogan Writing competitions on IMPORTANCE OF BLOOD DONATION, was organised by Prof. Sangeeta Malhotra ,Nodal Officer of Red Ribbon Club of the college to commemorate this important day.. More than 30 students participated in this competition . Vice Principal, Dr. Sushma Gupta, Dean Youth welfare Dept., Dr. Kulwinder Kaur Chheena and Red Cross Coordinator Prof. Randeep Dhoot were the judges for this event and they appreciated the performance of participants. Principal Madam in her address told the importance of donating blood . She said we should come forward to donate blood and to create awareness among the society . She motivated the students by telling them the benefits of donating blood.
• *"Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College Dinanagar celebrated "World leprosy day"* on 31st January,2023. NCC, NSS, Red cross and Red Ribbon club of Shanti Devi Arya Mahila college Dinanagar celebrated "World leprosy day" under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Reena Talwar under Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat mission. The main purpose of celebrating this day was to raise awareness among the people about the treatment of this disease caused by Leprosy Mycobacterium leprae. Principal Dr. Reena Talwar told that if people come forward at the primary stage of this leprosy disease and get their treatment done on time, then it can be completely cured. She told that we should eat not only carbohydrates but also proteins in our food, this strengthens the immune system and increases the ability to fight against this disease.

• Cadets of Youth Red Cross Unit participated in Youth Red Cross Day celebrations in the sweet memory of Bhai Ghanayia ji- an epitome of naam, compassion and obedience organized by Indian Red Cross Society, Chandigarh at Lovely Professional University, Phagwara on 23rd-24th November 2022. Cadets represented the college in various cultural items. Mr. Hitesh from Music Department and Ms. Kanika from Computer Department accompanied them. Principal Dr. Reena Talwar and Youth Red Cross Incharge Mrs. Randeep Dhoot congratulated the cadets for their active participation in the event.
• N.S.S, N.C.C, Red Ribbon Club, Red Cross, Youth Welfare Departments celebrated “World Health Day” on 7.4.2022 under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) programme, and Organized a Blood Donation camp under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Reena Talwar, which was sponsored by Red Cross Society Gurdaspur.Principal Dr. Reena Talwar welcomed the guests i.e., D.C. Gurdaspur: Smt. Shala Qadri, Blood Transfusion Officer, Civil Hospital Gurdaspur: Dr. Pooja and Director, Red Cross Society, Gurdaspur:Sh. Rajiv ji by presenting them Bouquet.
