Red Ribbon Society

Red ribbon club is a movement by the Government of India in Educational Institutions through which students will be made aware of AIDS. Through RRC, youth is encouraged to learn about safe and healthy lifestyles. The Red Ribbon of our college is working under the guidance of Mrs. Sangeeta Malhotra.

  • Red Ribbon club and Red Cross Society, under the aegis of IQAC and EBSB Club celebrated World Red Cross Day on 12th May,2023 under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Reena Talwar. Poster Making and Slogan Writing competitions on IMPORTANCE OF BLOOD DONATION, was organised by Prof. Sangeeta Malhotra ,Nodal Officer of Red Ribbon Club of the college to commemorate this important day.. More than 30 students participated in this competition . Vice Principal, Dr. Sushma Gupta, Dean Youth welfare Dept., Dr. Kulwinder Kaur Chheena and Red Cross Coordinator Prof. Randeep Dhoot were the judges for this event and they appreciated the performance of participants. Principal Madam in her address told the importance of donating blood . She said we should come forward to donate blood and to create awareness among the society . She motivated the students by telling them the benefits of donating blood.
  • Red Ribbon Clubs celebrated Youth Saptah at Pt. Mohan Lal S.D. College Gurdaspur on 13th February 2023.Ms. Shayna got 1st Prize in Poster making Competition,Ms. Sandeep Kaur got 2nd Prize in Collage Making Competition.Ms. Kamaljeet & Ms. Harkiranjeet donated blood at Blood Donation Camp held there and got certificates.
  • *"Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College Dinanagar celebrated "World leprosy day"* on 31st January,2023. NCC, NSS, Red cross and Red Ribbon club of Shanti Devi Arya Mahila college Dinanagar celebrated "World leprosy day" under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Reena Talwar under Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat mission. The main purpose of celebrating this day was to raise awareness among the people about the treatment of this disease caused by Leprosy Mycobacterium leprae. Principal Dr. Reena Talwar told that if people come forward at the primary stage of this leprosy disease and get their treatment done on time, then it can be completely cured. She told that we should eat not only carbohydrates but also proteins in our food, this strengthens the immune system and increases the ability to fight against this disease.

  •  In association with Red Ribbon Club, N.C.C., N.S.S. and Political Science Department, Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College, under the chairmanship of Principal Dr. Reena Talwar, celebrated 'Indian Constitution Day' on 26th November,2022 under the campaign of 'Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat' . On this occasion, various activities were conducted to celebrate Indian Constitution Day. Under the supervision of A.N.O., Dr. Anjana Malhotra, N.C.C. Cadets presented group dance and poetry. N.S.S. volunteers awakened the feeling of patriotism in everyone by singing patriotic songs. N.C.C. Cadets and the students of Political Science Department explained the importance of Indian Constitution and the contribution of its chief architect Dr. B.R.Ambedkar.
  •  NSS Department , Red Ribbon and Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat Club of Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College, Dinanagar celebrated National Unity Day on 31st October 2022 by organising various activities under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Reena Talwar. A Pledge taking ceremony was organised to commemorate the day. Madam Principal, Staff and students took pledge to commemorate the National Unity Day under the directions of Dr. Poonam Mahajan.Posters on Communal Harmony and National Unity were made by students of Fine Arts Department under the supervision of Mrs. Sonika Gupta . These posters were displayed in college campus to create awareness. “Run For Unity” was organised under the supervision of Nodal Officer of EBSB , Mrs. Sunita Verma and Mr. Aman Arora. Principal Dr. Reena Talwar told the students that this day is celebrated to mark the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel , who is known as Iron Man of India because he played a significant role in integrating the independent provinces into a unified India just after the partition of India and Pakistan.She further explained that ,celebration of this day provides an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation towards upholding the unity, integrity, and security of our country. She said it is duty of everyone to spread the message of unity and harmony among all to become the noble citizens of India .NSS Program officers; Dr. Sushma Gupta, Mrs. Sunita Verma , Mrs. Sangeeta Malhotra, Dr. Deepak Jyoti and Mrs. Jyoti Saini took active part in organising this event .
  •  'Red Ribbon Club’ of this reputable institution celebrated *Blood Donation Day* under the able chairmanship of Principal Dr. Reena Talwar. On such day, Ms. Mamta Kashiv, Department of Biotechnology delivered a lecture on ‘the need of blood donation’. She said that the Blood donation is one of the noblest and greatest life saving act, a man can make. The students of Biotechnology & Medical Science and NSS volunteers enthusiastically listened to the lecture.They also made posters to create awareness. The Nodal officer, Ms. Sangeeta Malhotra expressed that the Red Ribbon Club was formed as a government initiative to create awareness among the students about health science.  It is a platform where students are encouraged to learn about safe and healthy life style. Madam principal deliberated that good health and good sense are two of life’s greatest blessings. She added that he who has health, has hope and he who has hope has everything. At this juncture, Dr. Deepak Jyoti, Ms. Jyoti Saini, Ms. Sunita Verma, Ms. Pallavi Aggarwal and Ms. Swati Mahajan were present.

  • NCC ,NSS and Red Ribbon club of Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College Dinanagar , “Under Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat”, organised a programme to celebrate 115th Birth Anniversary of Shaheed Ajam Bhagat Singh, under the able guidance of principal Dr Reena Talwar . NCC cadets Organised a cycle rally from college to village Magrala at 7:30 in the morning and created awareness among the people of village about the ideology of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. After that in the college auditorium , a seminar was organised on life of Bhagat Singh and His Ideology. Dr. Reena Talwar told the students about the life of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji and how he created awareness about freedom among the common people of India at that time and he gave his life at very young age to get his country free from British Government.Nodal officer of the program ANO Dr.  Anjana Malhotra said Bhagat Singh is  the role model for every Indian. He taught a lesson of patriotism to every Indian.Mrs.  Monica , HOD History department presented her self written poem on life of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Mrs. Jaswinder Kaur from political science department threw light on different aspects of life of Bhagat Singh. She told that he could have easily escaped from jail but he did not and he chose to give his life for the freedom of his country. NCC Cadets presented last days of his life spent in jail by presenting a Nukkad Natak and created the scene of his last moments very beautifully, when he kissed the rope and was hanged . Dr. Reena Talwar appreciated the efforts of all the three departments for the successful organisation of this program.

  • Directorate of Youth Services, Punjab organised District Level Competitions of Red Ribbon Club on 21st September,2022 at Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College, Dinanagar under the able guidance of Principal Dr.Reena Talwar. Assistant Director Youth Services, Gurdaspur, Mr. Ravipal was the convener of this program. Sh. Dalwinder Singh Dayalpuria, famous Singer of Punjab and Mr. Honey Jhakku, National Bhangra Coach were invited as Chief Guests and they also acted as Judges. Mr. Dharam Indu Gupta, secretary, Managing Committee, graced the occasion with his benign presence. Quiz Competition, Poster Making , Declamation Contest and Essay writing competitions were organised to create awareness about Drug Abuse, Blood Donation, HIV/AIDS and T.B. in which students from different colleges of Distt. Gurdaspur participated with great enthusiasm.Mr. Mohit Aggarwal acted as Quiz Master in the competition of Quiz where Payal and Sharandeep Kaur, SDAM College, Dinanagar were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2000 each for Ist position. Anikit and Himanshu,PK Govt ITI, Gsp secured second position and won a cash prize of Rs. 1500 each. Madhav and Mohit, Govt College Gurdaspur got a cash prize of Rs. 1000 each for third position. In Poster Making Competition, Sunandan, Govt college, Gurdaspur secured first position, Salinder, Shivalik Technical Institute, Gsp stood at second position and Kiranpreet Kaur, SDAM College, Dinanagar secured third position. In Essay Writing Competition, Rajwinder kaur, Pt. Mohan Lal SD college for women, Gsp, got first position, Simran Bedi, SDAM college, Dinanagar stood at second position and Saloni, SDAM college, Dinanagar and Palak, Baba Ajay Singh khalsa college, Gsp got third positions. In Speech Competition, Chetna, SDAM college, Dinanagar secured first position, Japanjeet kaur, Pt. Mohan Lal SD college, Gsp stood at second position and Geetu sharma, S. L. Bawa DAV College, Batala and Swayam, Baring Union Christian College, Batala got third positions. Mr. Ravipal motivated the students to fight against the menace of Drugs with the help of education. Principal Dr. Reena Talwar enlightened the audience about the ill-effects of drugs as the young generation is most vulnerable to this malpractice of intoxication. Sh. Dalwinder Dyalpuriya  motivated the students for youth voluntary blood donation. Singing his self-written songs, he inspired the students to noble and civilised. Dr. Talwar honoured the chief guests by presenting them Mementoes. Mr. Ravipal applauded the co-operation and efforts of Principal Madam by presenting her a Club Memento. Mrs. Sangeeta Malhotra, Nodal Officer, and Dr. Kulwinder Kaur Chheena were also honoured with mementoes. The event became a milestone in the development of both Red Ribbon Club and SDAM College, Dinanagar.

  • NSS, RRC & Home Science Departments of Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College, Dinanagar celebrated “National Nutritional Month “ under the able guidance of Principal Dr Reena Talwar. An Awakening Lecture on Holistic Nourishment was organised under the supervision of Vice Principal Dr. Sushma Gupta and NSS Coordinator Mrs. Sangeeta Malhotra . Mrs. Sangeeta Malhotra threw light on the theme of this year that was Mahila & Swasthya and Bachha and Shiksha ! She told that Government is taking a great initiative to promote such programs for the betterment of women and children the most weaker and vulnerable part of the society. Dr Dalwinder Sharma was the main speaker and he told the students about the harmful effects of junk food on human health . He suggested to include fresh fruits and vegetables in diet to have a healthy heart. He stressed upon taking Ayurvedic medication as being used in ancient times . He told that Ayurveda is getting popularity at global level . Principal Dr. Reena Talwar motivated the students to eat healthy food and include yoga and exercise in their daily routine. She said if everyone becomes conscious about healthy lifestyle then they can live longer and healthier life span . She suggested to include healthy diet like fruits , nuts , oilseed’s and protein rich food in their regular meals and to avoid foods rich in sugar , salt and fats .She appreciated the efforts of Home Science & NSS departments and Red Ribbon Club for celebrating National Nutritional Month . Mrs Poonam Mahajan , Mrs Kusum Mahajan, Mrs Simerjit Kaur and Mrs Palak were present on the occasion.
  •   Red Ribbon Club organized  a Nukkad nataka named as vehngi on 31st March, 2022. It was performed by Red Arts Theatre Group on the topic ‘Importance of Teachers and Education’. 

  • Red Ribbon Club organized a Seminar on "Drug Deaddiction" on 28th October,2021
  • Directorate of Youth Services Punjab in collaboration with Punjab State Aids Control Society Chandigarh organised District Level Competitions of Red Ribbon Club under the able guidance of Mr. Ravipal, Assistant Director, Youth Services Gurdaspur on 25 September, 2021. Principal Dr. Reena Talwar was the Chief Guest of this function and Sh. Dalwinder Singh Dayalpuria, famous Singer of Punjab and Mr Honey Jhakku, Manager, PNB Jalandhar were invited as Guest of Honour.  
  • Red Ribbon Club and NSS Dept of SDAM College Dinanagar under the guidance of Director Mrs. Ratna Sharma organised a One week awareness campaign “ Jagrukta Saptah”against COVID-19 in collaboration with District Youth Services Dept Gurdaspur.More than 200students participated in online Quiz on COVID-19 organised by District Gurdaspur. 23 Volunteers made Posters on Importance of Hand Sanitization, Wearing Mask and Maintaining Physical Distancing to combat Corona Virus. Pamphlets for creating awareness regarding covid 19 provided by DC, District Gurdaspur  were distributed by staff and students at local Bus Stand , Market and near by villages.Staff members Mrs Sunita Verma,Mrs Meenu Gupta and Mrs Neha Saini from SDAM College Dinanagar distributed Pamphlets among residents of main bazaar Dinanagar and adjoining villages.Darshan Kumar distributed pamphlets at Local bus Stand Dinanagar to create awareness against Corona virus.

  • Report of Online Quiz Competition on HIV /AIDS organised by Red Ribbon Club of Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College Dinanagar in Collaboration with Department of Youth Services & RedRibbon Cub , Dist. Gurdaspur Under the able guidance of Principal Mrs Ratna Sharma , More than 300 students of Red Ribbon Club of Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College Dinanagar participated in the online Quiz Competition on HIV/AIDS Awareness organised by Assistant Director,Youth Services and Red Ribbon Cub of District, Gurdaspur . Screenshots of maximum participants has been sent in the Whatsapp group of RRC Gurdaspur.

· World AIDS Day celebrated at Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College, Dinanagar under the able guidance of Principal Mrs Ratna Sharma.Poster making and Declamation competition was organised by RRC and NSS Departments. An informative lecture was delivered by Mrs Sangeeta Malhotra on AIDS, to create awareness among students.

·Red Ribbon Club and NSS Department of Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College Dinanagar under the supervision and guidance of Principal Mrs. Ratna Sharma organised seminar on Drug Abuse.

  •       Directorate of Youth Services Punjab in collaboration with Punjab State Aids Control Society Chandigarh organised District Level  Competitions of Red Ribbon Cubs at Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College Dinanagar under the able guidance of Mr Ravipal , Assistant Director Youth Services Gurdaspur . Principal Dr Reena Talwar was the Chief Guest of this function and Sh Dalwinder Singh Dayalpuria ,famous Singer of Punjab and Mr Honey Jhakku ,Manager, PNB Jalandhar were invited as Guest Of Honour and they  also acted as Judges . Quiz Competition, Poster Making , Declamation Contest and Essay writing competitions were organised to create awareness about Drug Abuse , Blood Donation, HIV /AIDS and T.B . Seven Red Ribbon Clubs of District Gurdaspur took part in these competitions. Mr Ravipal in his inspirational speech motivated the students to come forward to fight against these problems with the help of education by creating awareness. He also sang a song on importance of Daughters. Principal Dr Reena Talwar in her address said that drugs gave relaxation and enjoyment for short time but one has to repent for whole of his  life . She said proper attention given by parents and good mentoring by teachers can motivate our youth to indulge in good habits and become responsible citizens of  India. Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College Dinanagar, Govt. College Gurdaspur, BUC College Batala , Hast Shilp College Batala and Baba Ajay Singh Khalsa College Gurdasnangal were selected as the Five Best Red Ribbon Clubs of District Gurdaspur and their Program Officers were given Appreciation Certificates  and Mementoes by Directorate of Youth Services, Punjab. Sh Dalwinder Dyalpuria in his own way by singing and through humorous talks motivated the students to donate blood  and stay away from drugs and respect their parents.. Students really enjoyed his motivational speech and songs . Asst. Director Mr Ravipal honoured the chief guest Dr Reena Talwar and both the judges  by presenting them Mementoes and plants . Mrs Neenu Sharma was also honoured with memento and appreciations for her meticulous job of conducting stage for this program.. Dr Sushma Gupta ,Dr Kulwinder Kaur Chheena ,Mrs Sunita Verma , Mrs Sangeeta Malhotra , Mrs Deepak Jyoti ,Mrs Randeep Dhoot, Mrs Parveen Saini ,Dr Anjana Malhotra, Mrs Jyoti Saini , Mrs Sonika Gupta ,Mrs Meenal Gupta  and Miss Dilpreet also attended this function .
