Prof. Sunita Verma told that there are 80 Ramsar sites in India, Punjab has seven protected wetlands, of these, six have been declared Ramsar sites, or wetlands of international importance, Keshopur wetland is a Ramsar site and is of international importance. Mr. Sachin (Forest Beat Officer) during this visit made the students familiar about various Migratory and Resident birds of keshopur wetland i.e., Purple swamp hen, Indian Moor hen, Glossy Ibis, Cattle Egret, Northern shovler, Pochard, Gadwal, Spot Bill duck, Cormorant , Greater cormorant, Stilt, Purple heroin, Sars crane, Marsh harrior etc. 36 students and 3 teachers from Science department i.e., Prof. Sunita Verma , Prof. Kajal and Prof. Mandeep visited Keshopur wetland and there they took pledge also not to harm any bird, animal, plant , wetland, for conservation of wildlife.
