Dr. Sushma Gupta said that, due to ultraviolet rays, the risk of skin and eye diseases increases, these rays also damage our immune system and people easily fall prey to infections and diseases. Mrs.Parveen Saini said that, over time we have become very dependent on new appliances and technology. Today every house has a refrigerator and AC, the gases emitted from it cause a lot of damage to the ozone layer.
Mrs. Sunita Verma told that the chlorofluorocarbons are the most prominent killers of ozone layer. She suggested several measures to protect ozone layer, such as minimizing vehicle use, stopping burning of rubber and plastic tyres, planting saplings, and reducing the use of pesticides that harm plants.
On this day, poster making, slogan writing competitions were organized in the college in which students participated enthusiastically. Principal Dr. Reena Talwar enhanced the honor of the winners by giving them prizes and congratulated Science department on successful organisation of this day celebration. On this occasion, teachers of Science Department Dr. Sushma Gupta, Mrs. Sunita Verma, Mrs. Parveen Saini, and other staff members were also present.
