The event commenced by reciting Ved Mantras followed by enlightening the Divine Lamp. Madam principal, Ms. Namita Gupta and Ms. Dilpreet welcomed the judges of the event Mr. Nek Chand, English Lecturer, Govt. Sen. Sec. School, Dinanagar and Dr. Usha Viyas, literary persona, Gurdaspur with potted plant under green initiative. In her welcome address, Ms. Dilpreet Kaur, Head, Department of English while greetings the participants and teachers from various institutions, talked about the eminence of World Poetry Day. She added that to celebrate the day and to be remembered as a heyday the departments has organised the event. Madam principal said that poetry competition for student is just the right way for them to develop their abilities in creative writing, critical thinking, and public speaking. A total of 30 students from more than 10 institutions of districts Pathankot and Gurdaspur participated in English, Hindi and Punjabi languages. The students recited their compositions with great zeal and enthusiasm.
The students were judged on different parameters: relevance on theme, creativity/ style and originality, harmony of words, intonation, clarity of imagination and language. The stage was well conducted by Ms. Pooja and Ms. Poonam Mahajan.

The Champion Trophy was bagged by Smt. Rama Chopra S.D.K.M.V College, Pathankot. The winners were awarded with trophies. The certificates were given to all the participants. The judges were honoured with mementos. Madam Principal congratulated all the winners as well as participants and encouraged them to polish their literary skills and come forward to exhibit them. She appreciated the efforts of English Department head, Ms. Dilpreet Kaur, Hindi Department Head, Dr. Poonam Mahajan, Punjabi Department Head, Dr. Kulwinder Kaur and their faculty members. At this moment, Dr. Usha felicitated three students of the college for their academic success. At the end of the event, the coordinator, Ms. Dilpreet expressed her gratitude to each and every one in making the event a grand success.
