20 Feb 2026 ↑ The Department of Physical Education and Sports organized the Annual Athletic Meet at the college sports ground under the chairmanship of Principal Dr. Sarla Nirankari and the guidance of Prof. Taljinder Kaur, Head of the Department of Physical Education.
The event was graced by the Chief Guests , Mr. Sanny Alok Tiga, Commandant, Adhoc P-1 Battalion, BSF, Madhopur and Captain Ritika Khareta. The Guests of Honour included Mr. Ritik Kumar (International Judo Champion), Mr. Yakoob (Sufi singer), and Mr. Abhishek Rajput Singh. Principal Dr. Sarla Nirankari welcomed the esteemed guests with potted plants and extended her greetings to other distinguished attendees, including Mr. Dharam Indu Gupta, Mrs. Namita Gupta, Mr. Anil Gupta, and Mr. Ravinder Vicky.
The meet commenced with the hoisting of the flag and the release of colourful balloons, followed by Vedic mantra chanting. In her welcome address, the Principal emphasized that sports play a vital role in improving the quality of life. She highlighted that active participation in sports enhances physical fitness and provides mental strength essential for academic excellence.
Mr Yakoob’s melodious Sufi renditions created an enthusiastic atmosphere. In his address, the Chief Guest stated that sports teach valuable life lessons beyond winning, such as teamwork, perseverance, and goal achievement. He encouraged students to remain determined and uphold the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Addressing the gathering, Captain Ritika Khareta motivated students to embrace challenges with confidence and passion. Reflecting on her experience in the Army, she shared that dedication and determination lead to success. She also informed students that possessing an NCC ‘C’ Certificate provides eligibility for appearing in the SSB and joining the CDS.
The march past, yoga demonstrations, and folk performances were major attractions of the event. Students enthusiastically participated in various track and field events, including the 100-metre race, 200-metre race, skipping race, triple-leg race, spoon-and-lemon race, duck race, sack race, relay race, and tug-of-war.
The Sports Department won the tug-of-war competition. Kirti displayed remarkable determination in the duck race. In the House Competition, Sanjana secured first position in NCC House, Tarandeep second in Courage House, and Vanshika third in Peace House. Neelakshi was declared the Best Athlete of the meet.
Faculty members also participated enthusiastically in various activities. Staff member Savi Thakur and her team won the tug-of-war, while Prof. Pallavi Sharma won the musical chairs event. All winners were felicitated for their achievements.
The programme was efficiently compered by Dr. Neenu Sharma, Ms. Poonam Mahajan, and Ms. Rama Kapoor. Prof. Taljinder Kaur and Coach Aarti were felicitated by the Principal and the Chief Guest for their commendable efforts in organizing the event.
The Annual Athletic Meet concluded on a patriotic note with the National Anthem, marking a successful and memorable celebration of sportsmanship and unity.
