The ceremony was started with Hawan Yajna in college campus. Hawan is a scientific experiment in which special herbs (Hawan Samagri) are offered in the fire of medicinal woods. Hawan purifies the air and seems to fight with the diseases of the brain.
Dr. Parveen Saini explained the significance of World Environment Health Day. It lies in its mission to inform, educate and empower communities globally about the environmental factors, such as air and water pollution, hazardous waste, and unsustainable resource use that directly affect human health and the initiatives to be taken to get rid of these issues.
Dr. Sushma Gupta elaborated the slogan of the day “Save the Earth, Save Yourselves, Think Green, Be Green and Stop Polluting”
Other activities includes poster making and tree plantation. Neem sapling, a medicinal plant was planted in college lawn to mark the care of Environment health. Madam Mrs. Sunita Verma explained the significance of Neem tree. She told that Neem contains chemicals that might help reduce blood sugar levels, heal ulcers in the digestive tract, prevent pregnancy, kill bacteria, and prevent plaque from forming in the mouth. Ms. Savi Thakur and Ms. Daljeet from Chemistry Department guided the students in poster making.
Principal Dr. Sarla Nirankari congratulated the Science department on successful organization of this day celebration. Staff members from various departments has participated in all the activities to grace the occasion.
