22 May 2022 ↑ Science and NSS Department under " Ek Bharat shreshth Bharat mission" under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Reena Talwar, celebrated " International Biodiversity Day”, 22nd May 2022, in collaboration with Punjab University board, Chandigarh and sponsored by National biodiversity authority, Government of India. Coordinator of the program was Mrs. Sunita Verma.This year, May 2022 Biodiversity Theme was “Building a shared future for all life”.

Various activities carried out during this day were Chetna Rally , Tree plantation, Seminar , and Competitions of slogan writing & declamation.Main aim to celebrate this event was to create awareness among students for conservation of biodiversity.Mr. Navneet Sharma (Solid Waste Mgt Expert)  and Mrs Pooja Sharma (Community Facilitator cum Prog .Coord.) Prof.Dr P. P.S. Chauhan (SMDRSD College Ptk.), were the resource persons .Principal Dr. Reena Talwar welcomed  the Guests by presenting them potted plants.The resource persons threw light upon importance of biodiversity. They told that even in pandemic situation COVID 19, Biodiversity has a great role in controlling various diseases. Mrs Pooja Sharma asked the students to segregate various types of wastes like e-waste, biomedical waste, dry waste, wet waste, green waste etc. for the protection of environment. Mr Navneet Sharma made the students aware  about solid waste management. He told that protecting the environment by controlling the environment pollution, starts at the individual level.Dr. PPS Chauhan made the students aware about conservation of natural resources for the betterment of future generations. In the declamation contest Ms. Harshdeep Kaur got first prize, Ms. Amanpreet Kaur second prize, Ms. Nancy third prize and Ms. Sukhmanpreet Kaur got consolation prize. In slogan writing competition Jashandeep Kaur , got the first prize.Principal Dr Reena Talwar encouraged the students by awarding prizes to the winners. She also honored the resource persons by presenting them insignia of the college. During this event, Vice Principal Dr. Sushma Gupta, Mrs. Sunita Verma, Mrs. Sangeeta Malhotra, Mrs. Deepak Jyoti, Mrs. Jyoti Saini, Mrs. Parveen Saini, Dr. Anjna Malhotra etc. were also present.
