The programme commenced with the floral welcome of chief guest and guests of honour, following the sacred ritual of lightening the lamp and enchanting of Ved mantras. The eminent members of Managing Committee, Mr. Dharam Indu Gupta, Secretary, Ms. Namita Gupta and Principal Upma Mahajan made their valuable presence in the event. There was a grand show of different folk dances such as, *Rajasthan’s Bhapang Folk Singing and Kalbelia, Uttar Pardesh’s Mayur Dance, Gujrat’s Garba and Sidhi Dhamal, Himachal Pardesh’s Nati, Kashmir’s Rouf, Punjab’s Sammi and Haryana’s Phag Dance*. The artists of these dances performed enthusiastically and entertained the spectators . Madam Principal, on the colorful ocassion, expressed, ’’Folk dances are the mirror of Indian Culture and present enriched India.’’ The chief guest Dr. Renu Bhardwaj said that folk dances portray the colorful image of Indian culture and such programs enhance mutual brotherhood among the people of the country. Dr. Sunil emphasised that we need to connect with the roots of our rich culture. College Youth Welfare Dean and Director of the program Dr. kulwinder kaur said that folk dance is the food of soul of the people of every culture. At this juncture, the College Magazine ‘Nikasi’ was released by all the guests. It was well appreciated. On the behalf of College, the chief guest and other guests were honoured with mementos. Principal Dr. Reena Talwar thanked all the guests and artists who came to perform and view this joyful event. President of Punjab Folk Art Center, Gurdaspur, Mr. Harmanpreet Singh honoured the artists of sammi folk dance and their teachers in-charges named Mrs Ekta Bhalla, Mrs Amita Bhalla and Mrs Neha Saini. Along with them, Chief Guest, Guests of Honour, College Principal Dr. Reena Talwar, Secretary of College Managing Committee, Mr. Dharam Indu Gupta, Ms. Namita Gupta, College Youth Welfare Dean Dr. kulwinder kaur and Dr. Deepak Jyoti were honoured. On the side of folk Art Centre, Stage was well handled by Mr. Sunil Shad who was later honoured.
