04 Sep 2024 ↑ NSS department and PG department of computer science organised a lecture on Cybercrime and Security under the able guidance of principal, Dr Sushma Gupta on 04-09-2024. Dr Deepak Jyoti ( Head, Computer Science department) along with her efficient departmental teachers, arranged a lecture on cybercrime and security for the students. Dr. Sushma Gupta, principal of the college motivated students to learn about Cybersecurity as it has become a major need of our life to avert any Cyberattacks. Dr. Deepak Jyoti, Head of Computers department made students aware of Cyberattacks and crime.

 Mrs. Shivali Saini told the students about cybersecurity, its advantages, its importance  and Mrs. Jyoti Bala guided the students about some essential elements like: cybersecurity, protecting the organisation on cybersecurity, risk based cybersecurity and so on. She further made students aware of some examples of security incidents like: 

Phishing Attacks- Especially the campaigns involving hackers posing as C-suite executives.

*Critical Vulnerabilities *- Including zero-day exploits, such as Log4Shell and Spring4Shell.

Malware Injections - Including failed ransomware attacks and other cyber attacks attempts.

Access Control Abuse - Such as privilege escalation attempts.

Data Breaches - The specific attack vectors that facilitated each security breach attempt.

*Physical Security Threats *- Including lost hard-drives

Critical Service Provider Vulnerabilities - Software misconfigurations and data leaks in the third-party ecosystem, whether linked to poor security practices or insufficient security controls. The lecture was quite valuable and informative for the students.
