13 Jan 2025 ↑ January 13, 2025, marked a vibrant and joyous celebration of the Lohri festival at Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Sarla Nirankari. The celebration began with the lighting of the bonfire, a traditional ritual symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness. The festival is celebrated in the memory of Dulla Bhatti wala, a folk hero who is known for his great deeds of protecting Punjabi daughters like Sundari and Mundari from Mughals. Students, faculty members, and staff gathered around the bonfire, singing traditional Lohri songs and exchanging greetings.

Principal Dr. Sarla Nirankari addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of Lohri as a symbol of community bonding, fertility, and prosperity. She encouraged students to cherish and respect their cultural heritage. Dr. Sushma Gupta, Dr. Kulwinder Kaur Chheena, Ms. Randeep Dhoot, Dr. Deepak Jyoti, Ms. Sangeeta Malhotra, Dr. Neenu Sharma, Dr. Anjna Malhotra, Ms. Sunita Verma, Dr. Parveen Saini, Ms. Jyoti Saini, Dr. Sonam Gupta and Ms. Neha Saini graced the celebration with their presence. The event concluded with the distribution of traditional Lohri treats, such as peanuts, popcorn, and til Rewri, among the students and staff.
