The President of Inner Wheel Club Mrs. Sunita Sharma, Former presidents Mrs. Renu Aggarwal & Mrs. Poonam Mittal and Vice President Mrs. Deepti Aggarwal graced the occasion with their benign presence. The esteemed speakers of day were Dr Mrs Vibha Sharma , a famous nutritionist and Ayurveda expert from Gurdaspur and Dt . Mrs. Gayatri Mahajan, owner of Fat To Fit Clinic and consultant dietician of MHS Pathankot. Principal Dr. Reena Talwar welcomed the guests with beautiful potted plants . NSS Coordinator and Head of Home Science Department, Mrs. Sangeeta Malhotra in her introductory speech threw light on the importance of Poshan Abhiyaan run by Government of India since 8th March ,2018. She explained in detail that September Month is celebrated as National Nutrition Month . The main target of this program is to eradicate Malnutrition from India by the year 2022. Dr. Reena Talwar in her inaugural speech motivated the students to eat nutritious food and she also stressed that while cooking food we should have positive emotions by chanting or listening to bhajans that can put positive vibes in our food .She explained it by giving quote from Bhagwat Geeta “ Jaisa Khavo Ann , Vaisa Hove Mann “. She urged everyone to take Satvik food and all present there liked her valuable suggestions. Dr Vibha enlightened the students by giving more value to home made food rather than processed food available in market. She suggested to take balanced diet which can meet daily requirements of human body . She said that girls should take care of their health by eating lot of fruits and green vegetables to avoid anaemia that is most common problem in adolescent girls .She also suggested to include raw vegetable ,fruits , nuts, oil seeds and protein rich diet in daily routine . Dt. Gayatri Mahajan explained in detail about the most common problem of adolescent girls that is PCOD . She said that mostly, this problem is related to irregularities in hormonal secretions but the root cause behind it is Diet “which is neglected by so many youngsters due to negligence’’. She stressed upon selecting food items according to the Food Guide Pyramid designed by ICMR & WHO . She explained causes , symptoms and remedies for PCOD problem and also gave suggestions for healthy lifestyle management. She said that it is a duty of a mother to select and cook nutritious food for her children . Both the speakers were given Mementoes by Club president Mrs Sunita Sharma and Principal Dr. Reena Talwar . Club members also honoured Dr Reena Talwar by presenting club memento to her .NSS Program officers : Dr. Sushma Gupta, Mrs. Sunita Verma , Mrs. Deepak Jyoti ,Mrs. Jyoti Saini along with staff members Mrs. Poonam Mahajan and Mrs. Meenal Gupta were also present on this occasion.
