15 Apr 2024 ↑ Department of Sciences and Post Graduate Department of Commerce in collaboration with Eco Club organised a webinar on the topic "Intellectual Property Rights"on 15th April, 2024 under guidelines of State Nodal Agency, Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, catalysed and supported by NCSTC, DST, GOI and the able guidance of Principal Dr. Sushma Gupta, Mr. Dharam Indu Gupta, Secretary, Managing Committee.

 The distinguished speaker for this inspirational session was Dr. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Dr. Neenu Sharma, head, PG Department of Commerce welcomed the resource person shedding beams on his remarkable career and his insightful discourses. Madam Principal Dr. Sushma Gupta emphasised that a person should be aware of his/her legal rights regarding intellectual property. Respected Resource person explained in a very simple way the procedure to get the patent registerd. He also talked about the time period in which one can get his/her patent registerd and emphasised that a patent once registered can also be revoked. He even spoke about Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT)  that allows applicants to file a single application for patent protection in multiple countries. He added that PCT was signed in 1970 and has over 150 member states. Teachers of different faculties and students attended the knowledgable webinar and jotted down many pertinent points. At the end of the event, Mrs. Sunita Verma, head of Zoology department extended vote of thanks to the distinguished speaker. Madam Principal appreciated the efforts of organising team and the faculty of concerned departments.
